Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and innovative leader to be a part of the Alberta Cancer Prevention Legacy Fund (ACPLF) team as a Director of Surveillance and Health Services. This position will play a major role in the execution of strategic initiatives that guide our mission and purpose of both AHS and ACPLF. The Director of Surveillance and Health Services (Acute, Primary Care) is responsible and accountable for providing senior leadership and expertise to the innovation teams to achieve project, stream and departmental goals with a deep knowledge and expertise in innovation and people management. The Surveillance stream aims to collect and use prevention and screening data to inform the direction of projects and to provide the opportunity for ACPLF to demonstrate better impact. The Health Services stream aims to create health promoting health care settings that leverage every opportunity to offer and support Albertans with effective prevention interventions and strengthen connections to community supports. The Director of Surveillance and Health Services works in a dyad model with the Senior Scientist to provide vision, leadership and direction to the ACPLF program areas to ensure strategic goals are achieved. The Director also works with a diverse team including integration leads, an evaluation, project management and health marketing lead. As a key member of the leadership team the director will be responsible for the following: Oversee quality and efficiency and delivery of all stream activities for example: implementation of project activities, scope and budget and in accordance with the scientific protocol; human resource projections, partnership agreements etc. Responsible for multiple business functions e.g. budgets/resources of multiple streams in the context of the overall ACPLF budget. Oversee contracts and procurements to ensure the timely acquisition of equipment and services for projects. Consults with legal as needed. Implements human resource strategies that attract and retain highly motivated staff with the requisite skills, knowledge, and experience. Provides mentoring and skills/competency development for stream integration leads and innovation staff creating an environment that supports and fosters continuous learning. Works with ACPLF Executive Dyad and Senior Scientists to creates and maximizes opportunities for collaboration across divisions within PPIH, SCNs, AHS and with other experts provincially and nationally. Provide support to and collaborate in the development/implementation of the PPIH Pulling Together Strategy.
