The Volunteer's Role

Tourism has a high potential to support the development of the economy of Myanmar, but it can't take off due to several hindering factors. The development of institutions to produce quality human resources is one of the major solutions to ensure that tourists have a good experience while in Myanmar and are able to provide positive feedback and encourage more people to visit.

A new Bachelor in Tourism and Hospitality Management has been to meet international standards. As this is a recent degree program in National Management Degree College, that it does not have yet the faculty members with the required subject knowledge. You will be teaching at least 2-3 modules based on your own expertise and providing ongoing mentoring to teachers. In addition to this, you will conduct research to enhance the overall development of the institution.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Teach at least 2-3 modules per semester
  • Mentoring and coaching of faculty members
  • Conduct basic research
  • Contribute to quality management

Essential Academic Qualifications:

  • PHD in Tourism, business or related discipline

Essential Professional Background:

  • A minimum of 2 years teaching experience
  • High proficiency in English
  • Ability to adapt knowledge and experience to the
  • Myanmar context

Support Package

  • Cuso International assessment day (Candidates must cover the first $200 of the most cost-effective travel expenses and all accommodation costs).
  • Travel and accommodation for the five-day pre-departure training course and for in-country orientation
  • Bonus: Additional return flight home or cash in lieu after 12 months of service for volunteers who extend for another 6 months
