Arobas Personnel is looking for a Data Governance Advisor for a position in Montreal.

Be responsible for the delivery of specific data readiness assessment initiatives

Data Assessment

· Elaborate business glossary with business Data Stewards and SMEs

· Determine data criticality in the context of identified business processes

· Assess general data quality and identifies data defects

· Determine root causes and business impacts of data defects

· Assess existing data rules & responsibilities

· Determine and prioritize data related risks with business Data Stewards and SMEs

Recommendations & Roadmap

· Recommend which data rules, responsibilities & data management processes should be implemented or changed

· Recommend tactical actions as well as longer term initiatives to mitigate data risks

· Make sure that proposed recommendations are aligned with the global data governance strategy

· Set up action plans. evaluate and prioritize potential initiatives with business stakeholders

· Establish appropriate roadmap

Be responsible for the delivery of specific data sharing agreements

· Define & get agreement between data producers and data consumers on required quality targets to address data defects

· Define new required data rules or modify existing data rules to support agreement

· Define or optimize business processes to streamline data rules enforcement

· Define required roles and responsibilities

· Identify technology requirements for data rules enforcement

Support ad hoc Data Quality activities (business case definition, project management activities…)

· Support and contribute to project management activities by participating in the scoping and estimating of project efforts, risks identification and mitigation measures recommendation, communicating activity status and providing timely notification and escalation of possible issues/problems to the Project Manager;

· Maintain the currency of the Data quality documentation.


· College or Bachelor degree in Computer sciences or Software Engineering

· 7-10 years of experience in IT

· Sound Data Governance and data quality concepts knowledge

· Strong ability to work in undiscovered, unstructured territories and to formalize processes that are currently not formalized

· Strong ability to link technical element (i.e. Data Models) to business elements (i.e. Business process mapping)

· Experience in business requirements gathering

· The role requires sound communication skills to influence and orient business and technical audience toward a common goal that is satisfying all stakeholders

· Strong ability to manage different stakeholder perspectives and resistance to change

· Ability to deliver mandate with great autonomy – self-driven

· Ability at taking decisions by understanding and explaining trade-offs between business enablement and economics impacts
